Best of the Bronze

This looks like a pretty cool app. If you’re looking for a tournament to enter, and wanna try out this system, check out the Starcraft Bitcoin open.

So yeah, the tournament is now on, check the bracket to see who your playing, and post your results here.

Ok, so the bracket’s up. (http://challonge.com/botb3) So to make sure everyone’s ready, put up a post either here or on the forums saying that you’re ready, and when everyone has said it, I’ll put up a post saying the tournament has officially started. If not everyone has said ready, and it’s been more than a day or two, I’ll start it anyway to get a move on.

Hey! Well there seems to be a pretty good response, so here the format:

Dates:

Well as I’ve said, this will be over a few days to make sure people have time to get their matches done. I’m thinking we’ll start when we get 16 people, so at the rate we’re going, it’ll probably start pretty soon :D Each round will have have a 2-day deadline for the matches.

Rounds:

The first 3 rounds (assuming we have 16 people) will be best of 3′s, with the finals being a best of 5. This tournament is single elimination.

Map Pool:

Each round will start with a set map, then loser picks, then another set map if it goes to 1-1.

The losers can choose from-Any Blizzard 2 or 3 player map, and the 4 player maps in the 1v1 map pool except for Slag Pits.

Observers: Players can stream their own games if they want to, but I do not want to allow obs for this just to make sure theirs no  cheating.

Reporting Results: To keep it simple, whenever a group has finished their round, the winner should post the results in the comments below the post that will have the bracket link on it. I’d love if you could post links to your replays to, but it’s not needed.

Cheating: If I catch anyone cheating (having tanked games to enter, hacking, whatever) your kicked out and you won’t be allowed in any more tournaments that I or Skipper run.

HI! Well, as you can see the post below this, the person who normally runs these is taking a break. So he said that me and my friend skipper could run one here. The format’s gonna be pretty close to the ones before this. We’re hoping to get around 32 people, although that may be a little optimistic. Thanks for the suggestions. I have no good excuse for the delay. I’m hoping to start promoting season 3 soon, but I’ve got some RL stuff coming up that I don’t want to get in the way. I find that this tournament takes up the most of my time at the beginning, when there are a lot of matches to manage.

In the meantime, here’s an upcoming Bronze/Silver tournament hosted by D2DGamer.

If you know of any other tournaments, let me know about em in the comments.

I haven’t had the time all week to make the post I wanted to make, so I’ll wait until the weekend to talk more about season 3.

In the mean time, anybody have any suggestions?  What would you like to see done differently? What should stay the same?

I was hoping to get you guys a live cast like we had last season, but none of the people I contacted have responded yet.  The date that I gave them was Saturday, January 22nd.  If there’s a time that works for both of you, that’d be cool.  Otherwise, I’d say just schedule your matches as you normally would.

The finals will be best of five, rather than best of three.  The maps will be the same, but with 3 out of five, that allows for a few more “loser picks” maps:

Round 1: Shakuras Plateau
Round 2: Loser Picks
Round 3: Loser Picks
Round 4: Loser Picks
Round 5: Delta Quadrant
